My Big Update

Kent had a week off from chemo so we decided to take a trip to Mesa and visit with our old friends Jay and Marilyn Winger. We had talked to them many times but Kent really didn't feel well enough to go. We are so glad we finally got the chance and he felt up to it. What a great release. I don't think that we really felt like the pressure was all that bad tell we left and life took a step backwards and we could enjoy some time together. We have been so blessed to be able to come to the warmer weather to do Kent's treatments and we are so thankful for that. Kent has been such a great provider in our lives and that has made all these things possible for us to
do. We took the Winger with us and headed to Yuma for one night. We got to Yuma at 3:00pm on a Saturday so we took a short trip across the boarder and we were able to pick up a few things. The next morning we thought what the heck, we'll run across the boarder again be for we started back for Mesa, that trip ended up being more fun than the first one. Everyone that we had told we were going to Mexico thought we were nuts with all the problems that are going on in Mexico, the little town that we go into is so different from the problem towns and their are probably more American there than Mexicans. Well all good thing had to come to an end and we had to be back for Kent's blood work on the 24th and chemo on the 25th. Kent had felt so good that we were sure that the tumor marker would go down but it had not. We have gone from 1.4 to 4.0 and now 5.0. I think we handled the bad news better this time because we took our little break and could take a big breath and enjoy each other and others. Kent asked the doctor how he could feel so good if things are getting worse, he told us that the whole idea is to make Kent time here as comfortable a possible and the chemo is helping to do that. He said that we need to do the Pet Scan when we go home and I really don't see why, but Kent wants to see where the cancer is at in his body.
I hope you all know how much we love you and all your thoughts and prayers. Kent is not done fighting yet, he will keep fighting even after they finish this chemo. We know that we are coming to an end of the chemical war and we will be fighting the battle in other ways plus the prayers and fasting from all of you. We do our last chemo on the 2nd of April then we think we will head for home. Thanks again for all your love. Shirley

So glad to hear that you guys had a fun trip. I envy your trip, you got warm weather, friends and fun all wrapped up in one. I would sneak over the boarder too if I had the courage!
