Update

I have been pointing everyone in the direction of this blog to find updated information about Kent. The latest saga started yesterday morning. Kent fell out of bed after a bought with the hick-ups. We are not sure if that is what started this mess, or if it started in the middle of the night. But at some point Kent had a stroke. It is a decent size bleed into his brain, and no one is sure if it is caused by a tumor or the over-dose of the chemo or if it was just going to happen.

The ambulance came and he was transported to Payson hospital, where they told us that it was defiantly a large brain tumor. EVERYONE since then, including all kinds of specialist have told us that was more than likely a rush to judgement! And it will take several weeks before we will really know for sure. He does have a large spot, but the chief Resident at the University of Utah Medical Hospital specialist on Neuro-ICU says that it could just be blood. And that it could take weeks and up to 2 months before the body will absorb the blood and we can see if there is something else there.

He took a second Ambulance to Huntsman Cancer Hospital. And they transferred him over to the University of Utah Neuro-ICU. And the short story on that is the overdose of the chemo will start to really mess up his body starting today. Platelets and red and white blood cells and all that Jazz. It takes a few days to really have it start effecting his body. At that point we may see the brain bleed more. That would be absolutely horrible. So he is in the safest place in Utah he can be to stop what might happen in the brain!

So how is he? Well one word Emotional! Crying is about the only way he is able to communicate. Bless his heart, his mouth and brain are not really letting him talk about what is going on inside. He can walk, and they are getting him up and exercising him. He does understand and respond to simple questions, and correctly! So we know that he is there. It is expected that he will recover slowly, and his speech will come back. He is already starting exercises that will help him to drink and eat and talk. All of the Dr's are extremely optimistic that he will come back and may have some residual effects, but that he should be able to communicate well. The blessing that he was given said that he would have the ability to communicate.

Only family will be able to go in and visit with Kent while he is in ICU. He is not expected to be there for longer than a week. And he has LOTS of "Brother's in Law" that have come up to visit. We really appreciate anyone willing to take time to come and see us and him. It really helps to break up the stress. Rex came by yesterday and Kent just cred and cred tears of joy seeing his beloved brother. Jim and Diana have been our constant help, how blessed we are to have them. So please feel free to visit. You can reach us on Kent's Cell number, or call one of the girls. Michelle or Tammy. They can answer your question if you would like to come and visit. We will also be updating this blog at least daily with any resent news. Pray for our sweet Kent. We love him so much and know that this is just another bump that he will recover from.
I am looking into ways to stay in or near the hospital in the motor home or a hotel. So someone will be with Kent all the time. That is his biggest fear, that he will be left alone.
